We have many years of professional experience in climate policy, sustainability consulting and strategy making in both the public and private sectors. We participated in the creation and evaluation of domestic and international strategies, action plans, legislation and projects. We have a wide network of contacts among both Hungarian and international organizations and experts dealing with sustainability, so we can offer well-founded and diverse solutions to the emerging environmental challenges.

  WRITING AND EVALUATION OF TENDERS

Development of the LIFE environmental tender concept

The aim of the project is to develop and implement a system that is able to significantly increase the life-cycle resource efficiency and ecological service quality of irrigation systems in agricultural vineyards using precision smart technologies in the EU’s arid and semi-arid zones.

Evaluation of tender documents

During the procurement procedure for the professional evaluation and consultancy of applications for support submitted by the call for proposals identified in the Call for Proposals for the Western Balkans Investment Facility. Our experts have been involved in the evaluation of the applications received in all 5 calls of the Green Center of the Western Balkans so far, during which more than 30 projects have been evaluated.

Preparation of a decision-making study on green public procurement

The main direction of the study is to present the European and Hungarian green public procurement legal system and regulatory environment, and then to examine the applicability of the European Commission’s GPP (Green Public Procurement) criteria, especially in the field of vehicle procurement and construction.

Preparation of a spatial and environmental impact assessment of Győr-Moson-Sopron County

Preparation of territorial (environmental, social and economic) and environmental impact assessments in connection with the updated / revised Győr-Moson-Sopron County Regional Development Concept and the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Regional Development Program for the period 2021-2027

Climate neutrality in the Energy Community - a study on drivers and policy proposals

More and more countries are announcing their promises of climate neutrality for 2050, and the countries of the Western Balkans have already committed themselves to this goal with the adoption of the Sofia Declaration, but their concrete long-term action plans have yet to be developed. The Green Policy Center study makes recommendations on how to set up long-term strategies to achieve a climate-neutral future for the Energy Community.

Opportunities for Hungarian-Serbian hydrogen economy cooperation preparation material

Compilation of decision-making background material examining and presenting the possibilities of Hungarian-Serbian hydrogen economy cooperation, covering the strategic and policy framework; areas of applicability, taking into account economics; by presenting the status of the Western Balkans and Serbia, as well as formulating proposals for Hungarian-Serbian co-operation (development of a strategy, action plan, regulatory environment, R&D area, professional co-operation, etc.).

Summary material on project opportunities relevant to Hungarian companies in the Western Balkans region

The aim of this document is to establish a constantly updated database for the Green Center of the Western Balkans on the most relevant green sub-sectoral project opportunities for Hungarian companies in its target countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia).

Study on the potential impacts of the ‘EU Deforestation Law’ on the resilience of forest ecosystem to climate change and their ability to adapt

The aim of this study was to evaluate the Deforestation Regulation regarding the potential impact on the resilience of forest ecosystems to climate change in order to identify gaps, shortcomings in the proposal, and recommend measures to increase its efficiency.

CEE Sustainable Finance Summit 2021

The ISFC, along with other like-minded organizations, held a 15-panel, multi-day online summit focusing on a wide range of sustainable financial topics, such as EU taxonomy, the European Green Deal, sustainable innovation, ESG, banking sustainability reports, and more. The Green Policy Center was one of the co-organizers of the conference.

CEE Sustainable Finance Summit 2022

The Summit is hosted by like-minded organisations from the region, inviting senior decision makers from the private sector, finance, policymaking, and experts from various fields to join the discussion about how to unleash the potential of sustainable finance. Climate-neutral Hungary 2050 Conference 2021

The main driving force behind the Climate-neutral Hungary 2050 Conference, is the adoption of Act XLIV. of 2020 on Climate Protection on June 3, which set the Hungarian climate-neutrality goal for 2050. The main target audience of the Climate-Neutral Hungary 2050 Conference is primarily the key economic and social actors of a fair climate-neutral transition in Hungary, but the one-day event aims to convey messages that are also relevant to the widest possible audience.

Climate-neutral Hungary 2050 Conference 2022

In 2022, the Green Policy Center also organized the Climate-Neutral Hungary 2050 Conference. The aim of the conference is to strengthen the social, economic and political consensus on the 2050 climate neutrality goal, to discuss key issues for a just transition and to contribute to a regular dialogue between the various stakeholders.

  POLICY ADVICE

Professional support for the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU

Our experts take part in the preparations for the international climate policy tasks of the Czech Presidncy of the Council of the EU in the second ehalf of 2022, and in the management of the Czech Presidency, in particular the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the EU Effort Sharing Regulation (ESR).

Green public opinion survey in preparation for the 2022 parliamentary elections

In order for parties and candidates running in the election to be aware of the green attitudes of voters, Závecz Research commissioned the Green Policy Center to conduct a representative poll that examined green attitudes among uncertain voters before the parliamentary elections.

  PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

Project Mirror

In the framework of this project, the Green Policy Center examines the possible paths of the implementation of the Fit for 55 EU climate policy package in Hungary, along which it formulates proposals for the revision of the measures included in the Hungarian National Energy and Climate Plan. Net Zero Banking

The objective of the project is to foster net-zero banking in Hungary via both the supply side (by helping banks’ management to understand and
